JT Multisport August 2021 Newsletter

August 2021

What a month August has been! From racing the Sri Chinmoy Off Road Duathlon and celebrating our TACT awards to the majority of the squad being in lockdown across Australia!

This second lockdown has hit us much harder than the first. The middle of 2020 saw the whole world locked down together. This time is different. We are sitting at home not being able to swim while other parts of the world are functioning as normal. Or the new normal at least. Equivalent races to the ones being cancelled and postponed in Australia are happening in other parts of the world and for most sitting at home watching, it is tough.

What we have been most proud of over the last few weeks is the resilience of our group with the majority of our members continuing to set new goals, keep up their training and stay connected. Nothing makes us prouder than seeing our members connecting (virtually at the moment) in social situations!

As we look ahead to next season we would like to congratulate the following JTM members for their inclusion in the joint TACT/TNSW emerging talent and U23 development squads.

Jordyne Rauter (U23)

Abi Adera (U23)

Ashleigh Lawson (Emerging)

A big thank you to TACT and TNSW for the opportunity to help our jnr/U23 athletes for season 22 and into the future!

Athlete Spotlight

Nick (Stormy) Ardlie

If you’ve been around JTM swim sessions over the last few months you’ve undoubtedly met Nick A.K.A Stormy. From kicking off swim technique sessions with us a year ago, Stormy has been joining our swim squad sessions and gradually moving his way up the lanes!

With a strong background in cycling, all the skills to be an exceptional swimmer and some runs popping up on strava, this guitarist and strava art legend possesses all the tools he needs to jump into a multisport event. Will we see Stormy on the start line of a triathlon soon? We sure hope so!

Training Tools

We’ve done a lot of work understanding power during our zwift rides this month. Don’t forget to connect your heart rate to zwift! You can connect your heart rate by bluetooth if it is compatible or by using an ant+ dongle with your device.

If you only have access to wrist based heart rate, you can use this by broadcasting your wrist based heart rate to be picked up by another device too! Need help, let us know!

Kate Molineaux

The JTM family was saddened to hear of an accident involving one of our members, Kate Molineaux at the start of the month. What begun as a commute to work ended up with Kate slipping on some ice and waking up to doctors giving her the news she would never walk again. Kate’s family and our friends at AP10 coaching started a gofundme page to follow Kate’s journey and provide support where possible. Your entire JTMfamily is behind you Kate!
