JT Multisport September 2021 Newsletter
September 2021
Is that a light? Could it be the end of the tunnel? With recent announcements of easing restrictions across Australia over the next couple of months our group is excited at the prospect of getting back together and once again toeing the start line.
September was a tough month for many of our athletes and coaches with the large majority in lock down unable to leave their home for more than 2 hours of exercise. That hasn’t stopped our group getting together virtually on zwift each Tuesday and Saturday and on zoom each Thursday. Our Thursday zoom sessions have given us the chance to catch up and participate in some great virtual games. A big thank you to Amy and LB who have spearheaded our games and given us something to look forward to each Thursday night. If you are yet to jump onto a zoom call be sure to join us this Thursday at 6PM Canberra time!
As we look forward to post lockdown life we are excited to welcome group sessions back in Canberra from October 16th (more info to come) and to bring our 2022 summer camp to life. Join us in Mount Beauty Victoria from January 3-9 as we tackle some of the best climbing in Australia and train our guts out to see which team reigns supreme for 2022! Register your interest today here!
As we (hopefully) see the end of lockdowns for a while we would like to thank the #JTMfamily for the support over the last 18 months. This has not been an easy period to negotiate but we are so appreciative of the kindness and support shown by our members! The smallest of acts do not go unnoticed!
Finally a big congratulations to our Steptember team who raised over $1600 to support people living with cerebal palsy! We are so proud of everyone for doing their part to make our world a better place!

Athlete Spotlight
Mat O’Brien
Having spent 246 days in lockdown, our Melbourne athletes have now become the most locked down city in the whole world! None have been hit harder than tennis coach Mat O’Brien. The challenges in Victoria would’ve seen many fold but not this multiple Ironman finisher who’s once again fighting children’s cancer by raising money in the great cycle challenge.
Mat’s ability to get up and keep his training going has been motivation for many of his squad-mates. With race deferrals leaving Mat entered in the Australian grand slam of Ironman races, we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in 2022!
Training Tools
Summer races are won during winter & spring training. As we look ahead to easing restrictions and begin to finally put some races on our calendar now is the time to ensure your consistency is as high during training. By gradually building your load into events you are not only decreasing your injury risk but also ensuring you give yourself the best chance of success come race day. Bring on those green sessions!
Item of the Month
As the weather heats up, drink bottles become even more important. Rep the JTM with your two drink bottles at training by following the link below!
