JT Multisport November 2021 Newsletter

November 2021

Did that all happen in November? After such a lay off racing around the country, we are well and truly back! November was one of JTMs busiest months to date and with Little Husky, Triple Tri, Canberra Triathlon Festival and the National Capital Swim all falling in the same month, it’s no wonder!

The month of racing in November saw JTM athletes pick up medals across the country taking a stack of overall race wins and more age group medals than we could count. We saw huge highlights with Jordyne Rauter being back racing sprint distance triathlon taking the overall win in Husky, Teah Day completing her first triathlon in Brisbane AND finishing second in her age group and Grace Hoitink taking the tape at the Canberra Tri Festival to name a few.

Our race results were good enough to see us sitting second in the Forager Interclub series just 1 point behind the ACT’s biggest club, Bilbys. With participation points looking to play a big role at Husky, we’ve got our sights firmly set on climbing back into the lead!

The next few months are shaping up to be big for the JTM family. We’re particularly looking forward to celebrating our Christmas party with our Canberra community on the 11th of December and kicking the new year off with a bang at our Falls Creek camp as we prepare for a huge 2022!

Athlete Spotlight

Neil Papenfus

One of the biggest achievements in a huge month of multisport was Neil Papenfus conquering the 13km swim from Fisherman Island to Port Morseby in PNG.

With little prospect of traveling to Australia to race an Ironman triathlon in 2021, Neil set himself a goal of tackling the monstrous swim to raise funds and awareness for Cheshire House, a leading charitable organisation in PNG in disability prevention and support.

Through 30C water, changing tides and stinging sea lice Neil touched land conquering both the huge swim and his goal of raising funds for such a worthy cause.

A huge congratulations Neil. We love the great work our squad members do to support their communities!

Training Tools

To JTM athletes, their training zones should be their bible. If you’re not sure what your training zones are be sure to check so you can make sure you are getting the most out of your training. Remember to put your power and heart rate on your main screens so you can easily track your zones while training. One of the biggest mistakes we see are people training too hard during their aerobic training and too slow during their intervals. To make sure you’re in the right place, check your zones and make sure they’re visible!
