JT Multisport October 2021 Newsletter

October 2021

We’re back! After weeks in lockdown for the majority of the JTMfamily, October saw us reunited. With squad sessions now back to normal in Canberra and our first race for the season under our belt there is a sense of normality in the air. Our weeks of lockdown have given us all a good opportunity to reassess our goals and priorities and it’s been great to see everyone coming out of lockdown with great motivation to be their best this season - joined by a few new faces!

Our Canberra group was lucky to sneak in a race at the end of October tackling the ACT duathlon championships where we took home 5 state titles and 8 additional podium finishes. Our huge results coupled with great participation numbers have allowed us to max out 25 points for the first round of the Forager interclub series. Bring on race 2! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Canberra Multisport events, TACT and our awesome volunteers (of which we had many) in getting our local community back to racing!

With the growth of our triathlon coaching, Grace and I have made the tough decision to stop our one on one and small group swim technique coaching. While we have loved being a part of everyone’s swim technique journey, we’ve taken the opportunity to continue to drive our focus on being successful on the triathlon course and help our athletes achieve goals they never thought possible while pursuing elite success with our junior, U23 and elite athletes. We thank all our swim technique swimmers for their support over the years and are so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in this space!

We are so excited to tackle the next couple of months and can’t wait to step on the start line of many more races to put our hard lockdown training to good use!

Athlete Spotlight

Ash Lawson

The ACT duathlon championships is a special one for Ash. It was this race one year ago she completed her first race for JTM and we can’t believe how far she has come! Ash’s development over the last year hasn’t been the smoothest with lockdowns causing extended periods away from squad sessions but Ash has taken every opportunity she can to improve her skills and become a more confident and complete triathlete. With a massive improvement at this year’s duathlon and without her strongest leg in the swim, we are excited to see what Ash can accomplish for the rest of the season !

Training Tools

The little things can make a big difference. Although lockdown has seen some more flexible training take place, we are back and it’s time to focus on the little things. Ensure you are ticking the boxes by uploading training files and metrics to Training Peaks daily so we can help you get the most out of your training!
